At the end of April – beginning of May, anti-tick treatment will be carried out in Irkutsk parks. The events will take place on 43 territories in all districts of the city. We entered into a contract with a contractor who will carry out the work, reports the press service of the Irkutsk administration.
Igor Bychenko, head of the environmental safety and control department of the Irkutsk administration:
— We plan to cover parks, groves, squares, cemeteries, forests and other green areas with a total area of 593.8 hectares. A special solution will be used that is safe for people and pets. The territories, preparations and timing of work were determined taking into account the recommendations of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.
The treatment will be carried out on the islands of Yunost, Konny, in Yuzhny, Russia, Kirov parks, in the Aleksandrovsky, Russian-Amursky, Jewish, Maratovsky, Novo-Leninsky cemeteries, in the Ushakovsky forest. The events are planned to be held on Jacobi Bay, in the area of the “Cafe” and “Garazhi” stops, in the “Komsomolsky”, “300th Anniversary of Irkutsk” parks, in the groves between Bezbokova and Zakharova, on the south side of the Universitetsky microdistrict and in other public places.
The areas are sprayed manually using specialized equipment. Signs are placed at each site to inform the public. Treatment is necessary to prevent infections transmitted by ticks: encephalitis, borreliosis and others.
Events will be carried out only if the weather forecast is favorable – no precipitation for the next three days.
Irkutsk residents are advised to follow safety rules when staying in green areas. It is necessary to use special anti-tick aerosols in accordance with the instructions, wear closed clothing, and conduct regular inspections.
In the Irkutsk region, 201 people went to doctors with tick bites over the past week. No cases of tick-borne infections were recorded.
