Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov was sent to a pre-trial detention center for two months. He will remain in custody until June 23, 2024, the Basmanny Court of Moscow ruled.
The court made a decision at the request of the preliminary investigation authorities.
“A preventive measure was chosen against the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Timur Viktorovich Ivanov, in the form of detention for a period of 2 months 00 days, until June 23, 2024,” the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the city of Moscow reports in Telegram.

A preventive measure was also chosen for the second defendant in the case, Sergei Borodin. He was also detained for two months.
According to the press service of the capital’s courts, Borodin has been charged with a similar crime.
The press service explained what conclusions the investigation reached:
“Borodin, being on friendly terms with the Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Ivanov, who oversaw the construction and major repairs of facilities of the Ministry of Defense, entered into a criminal conspiracy with third parties, teamed up with them in advance to commit an organized group crime – receiving on an especially large scale in the form of rendering services of a property nature during contracting and subcontracting work for the needs of the Ministry of Defense.”
Ivanov’s arrest became known on the evening of April 23. At the same time, searches were carried out at the real estate properties of the deputy minister’s family.
A high-ranking security official is accused of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale – part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
According to the Kremlin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was warned in advance about the detention of his deputy.
Moreover, on April 23, Ivanov took part in a meeting of the ministry board, at which the head of the department spoke.
