The head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, in his speech at a conference in Tomsk dedicated to the anniversary of the Siberian Chemical Combine (SCC, part of the TVEL fuel company of Rosatom), proposed accelerating the increase in the share of nuclear energy in the country’s energy balance to 25% by 2042, reports RIA Tomsk correspondent from the scene of the event.

The scientific and practical conference “New Technological Platform for Nuclear Energy” of Rosatom and JSC Siberian Chemical Combine is being held at the Tomsk Polytechnic Center (TPU) on April 23-25. It is dedicated to the anniversary of the plant. As a RIA Tomsk correspondent reports, the conference was moderated by the scientific director of the Breakthrough project, Evgeny Adamov, and Rosatom General Director Alexey Likhachev made a welcoming speech and report.

“The significant order of the President on the transition from the current 20% (share of nuclear power plants) in the energy balance to 25%. In accordance with the order, we must ensure this by 2045, but I would set the task of reaching these parameters in 2041-2042. The task is really very capacious, connected, of course, with large-scale construction,” Likhachev said at the opening of the conference.

According to the correspondent, also at the plenary session members of the Rosatom management, representatives of industry and flagship universities of the state corporation made presentations. We are implementing digital technologies everywhere, (we have) completely new equipment, materials, and, of course, we can’t go anywhere without young people, because young people come with a fresh look, young people come prepared,” – said a young employee of the Siberian Chemical Combine Igor Lutsik.
