Performers from the Ivanovo region – young resident of Furmanovo Alexander Shumilov and the ensemble from Ivanovo “Playing Music” – became winners of the International Children’s Music Competition of Folk Performers “MiR – Music and Development”. The results were summed up in Moscow. The Department of Culture of the Ivanovo Region reported this on Wednesday, April 24.

According to the press service of the department, this year more than 6,000 children and teenagers from 255 cities of Russia, as well as from Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Syria took part in the competition.

Alexander Shumilov, a student of the children’s music school in the city of Furmanov, won the first degree laureate in the nomination “Wind Instruments” with the musical work “Hava Nagila”.

The 3rd degree diploma in the nomination “Instrumental Ensembles” was awarded to the ensemble “Playing Music” (students and teachers of the music workshop of the city of Ivanovo).

“The “MiR” competition is held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Moscow Region, and the Department of Culture of the City of Moscow,” the message also notes.

Earlier, Izvestia.ru wrote that the Shuya brass band won the All-Russian festival-competition and received a grant of 2,000,000 rubles.
