A 20-year-old car arsonist in Vladimir fell under the influence of scammers

The Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Vladimir region reports that as a result of the actions of a citizen, three cars were destroyed. The cars were parked in the courtyards of residential buildings on Severnaya Street, 49 (one car burned down) and on Stroiteley Avenue near building 9-A (one car burned down, the other was seriously damaged).

On the night of April 21, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Vladimir received reports of fires in cars parked in the courtyards of houses in the regional center. Eyewitnesses reported that a certain girl was pouring liquid from a canister, after which she set it on fire and fled the place. As a result of the citizen’s actions, three cars burned down.

By morning the suspect was detained. She turned out to be a 20-year-old resident of Vladimir. The girl was detained by police officers and private security officers of the Russian National Guard on one of the streets of the capital. The suspect was then taken to the police station for further investigation.

According to law enforcement officials, the girl committed the crime under the influence of telephone scammers. She took out a loan and transferred money to the scammers. After that, under threats, following the instructions of the attackers, she purchased gasoline and lighters. After that, the suspect proceeded to the indicated addresses and set fire to the cars. The girl filmed what was happening. All her actions were coordinated via video link by an unknown “curator.”

An investigator from the Investigative Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Vladimir opened two criminal cases against the girl under Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (destruction of property by arson). The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to the defendant. The causes and circumstances of the incident are established by police officers in cooperation with employees of the regional FSB Directorate.
