During the year, Tver residents purchased over 800 thousand insurance policies.

In 2023, residents of the Tver region purchased more than 828.5 thousand insurance policies. Such data are provided by the Tver branch of the Bank of Russia. More than 18% (155.5 thousand policies) of them were for life and health insurance: 17.6 thousand – life insurance, 111.3 thousand – accident and illness insurance, 26.6 thousand – VHI. Life insurance increased 1.2 times to 1.9 billion rubles.

A decrease in the volume of accident and illness insurance premiums was recorded by almost 14.7% to 328.6 million rubles, this is due to the fact that borrower insurance was partially transferred to credit life insurance. The voluntary health insurance (VHI) market grew by 63.6% to 224.5 million rubles due to expanding demand for corporate programs to retain and attract workers in conditions of shortages in the labor market.

In second place by the number of issued policies are MTPL policies. Tver car owners took out 383.5 thousand compulsory motor liability insurance policies and paid more than 2.4 billion rubles for them. Compared to 2022, the volume of insurance premiums increased by 429.8 million rubles, the number of concluded contracts by 6%. This suggests that Tver drivers were more expensive with the “autocitizen” policy – the average cost of the policy increased from 5.6 to 6.4 thousand rubles. Let us remind you that this April the procedure for issuing compulsory motor third party liability insurance has changed.

“The cost of compulsory motor insurance was affected by sanctions, which increased the price of auto parts and the cost of repairs. The cars themselves have become more expensive, both new and used. The increase in fees for issuing MTPL policies by 21.2% to 2.5 billion rubles was caused by these factors. Also, the demand for auto hull insurance has increased, over the year it increased almost 1.3 times to 1.2 billion rubles, which was influenced by sales volumes of new cars and the expansion of car loans, as well as the increase in the value of this type of insurance for motorists,” explained the chief legal adviser of Tver branch of the Bank of Russia Andrey Baev.

In general, for all types of insurance under contracts concluded in 2023, Tver residents were paid 3.9 billion rubles, which is 18.4% higher than a year earlier: about 1.8 billion rubles were payments for life insurance, 1.2 billion rubles – for compulsory motor liability insurance, 686.4 million rubles for CASCO insurance, over 74.3 million rubles for voluntary health insurance and 62.6 million rubles for policies against accidents and illnesses. The volume of insurance premiums increased relative to 2022 by 18.2% to 7.1 billion rubles.
