The international horse trek from Kurgan to Ulaanbaatar was postponed due to the flood situation in the Trans-Urals and other regions of Russia. Now the horsemen are ready to begin their great journey.

Since the beginning of the year, Trans-Ural Cossacks have been preparing for an international equestrian campaign to the capital of Mongolia. According to the original plan, they were supposed to start on April 15. Weather conditions intervened – floods in the Kurgan region and other regions of Russia. The horsemen decided to postpone the start of the campaign, and in the available time to complete all preparations for the trip.

– The readiness of our shipment today, that is, 4 days before departure, is 98%. We are finishing the remaining tasks and already loading things. Almost all the equipment is ready. We received almost all the horse ammunition that we needed. Now we are testing this ammunition so that we don’t have any problems during the hike. “We watch the behavior of horses,” he says hike participant Sergei Popov .

The Cossacks will walk the path accompanied by Orthodox icons from the Dalmatovsky Monastery and the Port Arthur Church. They will also take with them the Koran – the Trans-Ural Muslims donated it to the people of Mongolia.

– I am participating in the campaign – Ataman Popov on the Oryol trotter horse Dymka. Rustem Zhiga from the Republic of Tatarstan on the Mongolian horse Zvezda. And our driver and logistics support is Cossack Yuri Lysenko,” says Sergey Popov .

One of the riders, Rustem Zhiga, came to Kurgan from Tatarstan. For two weeks, he prepares every day for a campaign with his comrade, the Cossack Sergei Popov.

– The star is the horse I will ride on. Nice girl, good, we became friends. Everything is great. It’s like this with a Cossack: if he says “yes,” then there’s no turning back,” he shares Cossack .

Rustem wrote a song especially for the campaign. He will perform it at the finish of the hike in Ulaanbaatar.

– The song is about our campaign, about the Cossack lot, about love, about freedom. And where on Khalkin Gol they met the Mongols, the Russian sons embraced the Mongols, – quotes the composition Rustem Zhiga .

Together with the Cossacks, another Trans-Ural resident, Yuri Lysenko, goes on a campaign. He will supply his comrades and their horses with everything they need on their journey.

– My task will be to protect the hike and the horses from wild animals. Cook for food, grain for the horses, water. Technical support of vehicles, horse breeder, says Yuri Lysenko .

The horsemen set off on April 27. They have to travel 4 thousand 100 kilometers. The finale of the trip is scheduled for late summer – early autumn.
