A 29-year-old resident of the Saki district and a 26-year-old resident of Yevpatoria were detained on suspicion of murder of 23-year-old Jessica Kuzhnaya. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Crimea and Sevastopol.

The last time the girl got in touch was on April 20. The mother was used to calling Jessica every day, the relationship was warm and trusting. When her daughter stopped answering her calls, her relatives immediately asked for help. The police, volunteers and concerned citizens joined the search. At the direction of the head of the Main Investigation Department, Vladimir Terentev, the investigative department for the city of Yevpatoria immediately opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder”) in order to establish all the circumstances through investigative means.

Investigators and criminal investigators of the Investigative Committee carried out significant work to study the territories of several districts at once: they established the girl’s social circle, the routes of movement of her and her acquaintances, studied recordings from street surveillance cameras, and, using forensic technology, examined the places of residence of the missing person and two possible suspects. As a result, information was received about the involvement of her acquaintances in the disappearance of a resident of Yevpatoria, who had previously come to the attention of law enforcement agencies.

Both young men work in one of the Evpatoria shopping centers.

“A competent interrogation tactic was chosen, as a result of which one of the men confessed. The crime was committed in a house in the Krasnoperekopsky district. During the conflict, the girl was strangled. As part of checking evidence on the spot, the suspect told how he committed the murder, and also pointed to the place where the body was hidden. Currently, investigators and operational officers are working closely with the detainees in order to establish in detail the circumstances of the crime committed and its motives,” the Sledkom said.

Earlier it was reported that the girl’s body was found outside the city. Previously, they tied the girl up with tape and tried to burn her; traces of rape and strangulation were found on her body.
