A class of the basic department of biotechnology and industrial pharmacy has opened at YSMU

Innovative equipment, including a cell culture system. And all this within the walls of an educational institution. Meanwhile, a class at the basic department of biotechnology and industrial pharmacy has opened at Yaroslavl Medical University. Classes will also be held using virtual reality technologies.

The regional government and one of the region’s large pharmaceutical enterprises helped open such a class at the medical university. One of the goals is to train future employees for the production of medicines and more. Also, from September 1, YSMU will have two new Master’s degrees – in biotechnology and industrial pharmacy.

Alexander Khokhlov, rector of YSMU:
– For us, these are great opportunities for the development of both the faculty itself, the pharmaceutical faculty of our university, and the university as a whole. This is one of the serious steps towards creating a serious fundamental scientific base for training specialists. Biotechnology is now an advanced trend not only in pharmacy, but also in the manufacturing sector in general. And here are the necessary components that will be required in real practice.

– We have a wide range of pharmaceutical industry enterprises in the Yaroslavl region. And personnel training is a very important aspect for our economy. It is gratifying that this project is being carried out on the basis of one of our universities – a medical one, which has become a participant in the Priority 2030 program.
