The day before, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, proposed to perpetuate the memory of the heroes of the special military operation, assigning their names to city schools along with the names of Heroes of the USSR. The head of the city announced this at a meeting of the Coordination Council for Veterans Affairs of St. Petersburg, dedicated to the preparation of the city for the celebration of the 79th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

State Duma deputy, deputy chairman of the Committee on Family Protection, Issues of Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood Vitaly Milonov said that this is a very good decision.

“For tens of thousands of students in St. Petersburg schools, it will be an excellent example that their older comrades, fathers and brothers, who graduated from these educational institutions, made an important and correct decision to go to the Northern Military District, and now they can be truly proud,” said the State Duma deputy . — To be honest, previously I was not very supportive of the idea when, in the event of the death of heroes of the Northern Military District, memorial plaques were immediately installed at schools in their honor. Because some students took it psychologically quite hard. But the information that certain graduates of this school take part in the SVO is a great idea.”

According to Milonov, electronic signs make it possible to alternate information and truly cover all graduates who are fighting at the front.

“This also echoes the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation, who said that now the new elites of Russia will be formed primarily from the participants in the special operation. I myself am a member of the SVO, and from my own experience I know that such experience “corrects” people’s consciousness, puts the right emphasis and priorities in their heads. I really want the authorities to involve in public life both those who are in the special operation zone and those who have already returned from there after being wounded or ending their contract. These people, not in words, but in deeds, know what support, a sense of camaraderie, honesty, and duty mean. Those who return from a special operation are mostly really good citizens who can be very useful to our society,” the deputy said.

He also said that he tries to personally support all his comrades, next to whom he happened to participate in hostilities.

“I am very glad that some of my colleagues are now nominating themselves for municipal councils in cities and regions. Many of them are militant, socially active people who are ready to work for the benefit of the state and change our society for the better. They are full of energy and creativity, that is, they are real passionaries,” concluded Vitaly Milonov.
