Specialists of Chechenenergo JSC, managed by Rosseti Northern Caucasus, stopped 172 cases of unaccounted-for electricity consumption in the first quarter of 2024. This was reported in the press service of the organization.
“The total volume of stolen energy resources is 823 thousand kilowatt-hours. The damage caused to the region’s power grid complex is estimated at 3.4 million rubles,” the company noted.
For each fact, specialists drew up reports of unaccounted consumption. Subscribers who violate the law will pay significantly more than the cost of electricity that they could have received legally.
“Energy fraud leads to voltage drops in the network, failure of household appliances, technological disruptions at energy facilities and fires. We cannot allow such a development of events. Therefore, on behalf of the Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov and the management of the Rosseti company, specialists are actively working in this direction,” noted Abubakar Isaev, Deputy Managing Director for Sales and Development of Services of Chechenenergo JSC.
Let us remind you that unaccounted consumption entails civil consequences: administrative, and in case of causing major harm – criminal liability. According to Article 7.19 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, unauthorized connection to networks, as well as unauthorized use of electricity, entails the imposition of an administrative fine on citizens in the amount of 10 to 15 thousand rubles, on legal entities – from 100 to 200 thousand rubles. For repeated theft of energy resources, individuals are required to pay a fine of 15 to 30 thousand rubles, legal entities – from 200 to 300 thousand rubles. Criminal liability for theft of electricity provides for penalties under Art. 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in the form of imprisonment for up to two years.
