Because of joggers, vehicle traffic will be blocked in the center of Chelyabinsk.
As reported to RIA Novy Den in the press service of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Chelyabinsk Administration, on May 1 the start of the 91st track and field relay race, the 70th circuit cycling race, and the 12th roller ski race for the prizes of the mayor’s office will take place. The parade of participants will begin at 10:00, and the races will begin at 11:00.
The route of the competition will stretch from Revolution Square and Zwillinga Street along Lenin Avenue to Lesoparkovaya Street.
The relay participants are pupils of the city’s sports schools, district athletics teams, representatives of secondary schools, universities, colleges, as well as municipalities of the Chelyabinsk region. Athletes will have to overcome 16 stages. This year, roller skaters will take part in the festival for the second time.
According to the head of the city sports department, Maxim Kleschevnikov, the relay opens the summer season of events. After it, this year Chelyabinsk residents will also enjoy the “Green Marathon”, “Race.RF”, the Chelyabinsk Marathon and the Cross of Nations.
Due to the holding of sports competitions on May 1, from 8:00 to 15:00, vehicle traffic along Lenin Avenue along the competition route will be blocked. Chelyabinsk residents are asked to treat this with understanding and plan their route in advance.
