Boogie at leisure: 55 thousand Novgorodians attend 3.7 thousand interest groups

Novgorodstat analyzed and published current data on the regional leisure sector. Last year, 287 cultural centers, leisure and creative centers operated to organize leisure time for the population in the Novgorod region.

On the basis of these institutions, 3.7 thousand associations, sections, circles and studios were created, of which 49% were clubs for children under 14 years of age, another 21% were aimed at youth. The elderly population has about 30% of leisure opportunities left.

The number of clubs and studios exceeds 2.1 thousand. Most of all, Novgorodians love to sing – vocal associations make up 24% of the total. Arts and crafts are in second place (23%), choreographic practices are in third (17%). Theater in 4th place.

More than 55 thousand people attended clubs of various types last year. 23 thousand people showed their talents in folk art groups, 2.5 thousand people showed their talents in sports sections, but only 119 people were passionate about technical creativity.
