Every week, Vladimir News publishes the opinions of experts in the field of economics. Thus, experts share their forecasts about how the market situation is, where and when prices will rise or fall, and whether it is worth taking risks in the near future.

Today our expert Grigory Trunin, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Law and Customs Activities at the Law Institute of Vladimir State University spoke about what wages are in the Vladimir region, which areas of work have the highest wages, as well as which areas of the region with the best wages.

According to Rosstat, the average salary in Russia for 2023 was 73,709 rubles per month. It increased by 12.8% compared to 2022. It is worth considering that the data for 2023 are preliminary, but the margin of error is relative, and the data presented for 2024 are indicated for the first month. For the first month of January, the average salary is 75,034 rubles in Russia.

Among Russia, the Central Federal District and other regions, the Vladimir region is located below the Russian average with a value of 52,000 rubles. It is important to understand that the Central Federal District is a leader among other regional groups in terms of wages.

“If you carefully consider the dynamics of changes in averages, then the Vladimir region is a typical region occupying average indicators in the Central Federal District. However, traditionally in Russia the structure of income of the population is strongly tied to the region of residence. Thus, the average salary in Moscow in 2023 amounted to 136,401 rubles, and Moscow region 82,457 rubles – this once again shows the regional linkage of income to territories. In Russia as a whole, income distribution is characterized by regional characteristics, which forces the population to migrate to other regions with a higher standard of living, and this trend has been quite stable for decades,” – the expert shared.

“It is important to note that the statistics show the average, taking into account personal income tax. Moreover, in order to better understand the real income of the population, let’s turn to an abstract example, this is the average temperature in the hospital. Let’s imagine we have 2 patients: one has a body temperature of 42.6, and the other has 30.6. On average, this turns out to be 36.6, and therefore everything is calm in the hospital, but in fact you have two potential corpses. Therefore, when assessing the average values, it is recommended to use the average median value.” – explained Grigory Trunin.

“The Vladimir region is also not in the best state of affairs. Remuneration is highly differentiated depending on the field of activity,” – said the expert.

The TOP 5 areas of activity in the Vladimir region with high wages are information and communications, finance and insurance, manufacturing, scientific and technical sphere, and logistics activities.

Among the municipalities, the TOP 5 districts can be noted: Kirzhachsky, Petushinsky, Sobinsky districts, the cities of Vladimir and Kovrov.
