Today, April 24, at the main height of Russia – Mamayev Kurgan – the all-Russian action “St. George’s Ribbon” was launched. 80 Volgograd students, cadets, youth members, activists of the “Volunteers of Victory” movement carried the 80-meter St. George ribbon from the foot of Mamayev Kurgan to the Hall of Military Glory. The participants of the action paid tribute to the memory of those killed during the Great Patriotic War by laying flowers at the Eternal Flame.
Today, volunteers distributed the symbol of military glory – the St. George’s ribbon – to residents and guests of the city, and also explained the meaning of flowers and how to wear it correctly. In total, until May 9, volunteers will hand over 100 thousand copies.
Let us remind you that the “St. George Ribbon” event was first held in 2005 in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Victory and as a sign of respect to veterans of the Great Patriotic War. This year it will be possible to receive this symbol until May 9: the event will take place in Elansky, Kalachevsky, Kamyshinsky, Svetloyarsky, Gorodishchensky, Pallasovsky districts, as well as in Kamyshin and Mikhailovka.
In Volgograd, volunteers can be found on the Alley of Heroes, in the Yuri Gagarin Park, Victory Park, Central Park of Culture and Culture, on the embankment from the street. Marshal Chuikov to the Battle of Stalingrad Museum-Reserve, as well as on Engels Boulevard, near the Yubileiny shopping center and on Lazorevaya Street in the Krasnoarmeysky district.
