A native of neighboring countries was detained in Tver for drug trafficking

In the Moskovsky district of Tver, on 15 Let Oktyabrya Street, a 32-year-old native of the neighboring countries was detained. According to drug police, the man was a pawnbroker. Two caches he equipped near residential buildings already contained packages of foil and polymer material with a powdery substance. The packages were seized and sent for examination.

From the ECC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tver region they reported that the packages contained methadone with a total weight of 0.77 grams. This number refers to a significant size.

A search was conducted in the apartment rented by the defendant. The police discovered and seized about 20 more grams of the substance – and also sent it for testing. A criminal case has been opened for attempting to sell drugs (part 3 of article 30, part 3 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code). The defendant may face up to 15 years in prison.


At the moment, he appears as a detainee and has been placed in a detention center while the investigator decides on the issue of a preventive measure. The gravity of the article requires imprisonment.

An investigation is underway. Drug control operatives establish all the circumstances of the crime, as well as the channels through which the detainee ended up with methadone.
