A Nizhny Novgorod resident received seven years in prison for beating an acquaintance to death in 2022

The court sentenced a 47-year-old man accused of beating an acquaintance to death in the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported to the Investigative Directorate of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region on April 24, 2024.

The man was tried under Part 4 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim through negligence).

The investigation and the court established that in July 2022, the men drank alcohol in an apartment on Barents Street. There was a conflict between them, during which the defendant severely beat an acquaintance.

The 53-year-old victim was hospitalized in a medical facility, where he died from his injuries.

The defendant did not admit guilt. The court sentenced him to seven years in a maximum security colony.
