He recalled his attempts to establish dialogue with representatives of the Ministry of Defense

Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the Novosibirsk region Alexander Panferov publicly expressed his concern about what is happening around the Novosibirsk Military Town and addressed the Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu. He published an appeal today on his page on the social network Vkontakte.

Panferov emphasized that the current situation causes reputational damage to the Ministry of Defense, which is especially unacceptable in the context of a special military operation. He recalled his attempts to establish a dialogue with representatives of the Ministry of Defense and preliminary agreements on a meeting that never took place.

“After my public appeal to the President of the Russian Federation about the inadmissibility of the loss of the Novosibirsk military camp, preliminary agreements were reached on a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Defense. We all understand the need for a constructive conversation about the fate of the Military Town and the importance of developing an algorithm for solving the problem. At the moment, representatives of the Ministry of Defense have not come to Novosibirsk,” wrote Alexander Panferov.

The deputy noted that the lawsuit from the Ministry of Defense challenging the decision to include the Military Campus buildings in the register of cultural heritage sites is still pending in court. He emphasized that he is well acquainted with Sergei Shoigu’s position regarding the importance of preserving military history and the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland, citing as examples the creation of the Patriot Park in Moscow and the Museum of Naval Glory in Kronstadt.

In this regard, Alexander Panferov turned to Sergei Shoigu with two requests. Firstly, to withdraw the claim of the Federal State Institution “Siberian Territorial Administration of Property Relations” of the Russian Ministry of Defense to invalidate the decision of the government of the Novosibirsk region to include the buildings of the Military Town in the register of cultural heritage sites.

Secondly, to assist in the creation of a large-scale Museum of the Military History of Siberia named after Alexander Ivanovich Pokryshkin on the territory of the Novosibirsk Military Town and help with filling its exhibitions.

Let us remember that in Novosibirsk, experts and activists have long been concerned about the fate of the Military Town, a historical complex of buildings that the Ministry of Defense is trying to deprive of its status as a cultural heritage site.

The trial has been going on for a year, and experts fear that the decision could lead to the demolition of historic buildings. The condition of the buildings is deteriorating due to vandalism and lack of repairs. Activists hope that the Military Town will be preserved and put in order, like the garrison House of Officers, which now houses the Historical Park.
