The criminal case of the former assistant to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the head of the St. Petersburg headquarters of the ministry, Sergei Umnov, will be considered in Moscow. This demand was made by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

“The defense of the accused insisted on hearings in the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg, on the territory of which the crime alleged by the investigation was completed,” the media write.

The Prosecutor General’s Office suggested the Lefortovo Court in Moscow, Kommersant clarifies. As a result, the case was sent to the capital to the Khamovnichesky District Court. It is expected that the defendants will challenge the decision to postpone. However, it will be difficult to achieve a hearing in the Northern capital, experts say.

According to investigators, the ex-police officers are accused of receiving 11 bribes. We are talking about the amount of 65 million rubles. Sergei Umnov is suspected of organizing a corruption scheme in 2013.

Let us recall that the court in the Northern capital recovered 44 million rubles of unconfirmed income from the former law enforcement officer.

Earlier, FederalPress reported that the ex-policeman will spend 5 years in a colony for stealing fuel from an oil pipeline in the Leningrad region.
