On April 24, St. Petersburg joined the all-Russian St. George’s Ribbon campaign. Volunteers handed out the Victory symbol at the Gostiny Dvor metro station.

This year, 810 thousand tapes were produced by order of the St. Petersburg Press and Media Relations Committee. They can be obtained at the branches of Russian Post, Sberbank, Petroelectrosbyt and MFC. From May 6 to 8, volunteers will distribute ribbons at metro stations, and on May 9 – during the parade on Palace Square.

“Young people will very actively join the St. George’s Ribbon campaign.” Currently, it is a symbol of respect for veterans of the Great Patriotic War. This is a tribute to the heroism of the defenders of the Fatherland. The action occupies a special place among young people,” emphasized Roman Volkovsky, deputy chairman of the youth policy committee.

In honor of the start of the action, a concert was held at the Gostiny Dvor station, at which songs from the war years were performed. Reenactors told townspeople about the history of the St. George ribbon and the key events of the era.
