The Department of Roads and Improvement is failing.
Mayor Sergei Shelest today, together with other officials of the city administration, held another mediation. The main task of the event was “selection of bags left after the cleanup.”
“The Omsk residents did their best, they collected the garbage, but if we don’t take it out, it will be a waste of time,” the mayor formulated the situation in the report.
Shelest explained that the Road Management and Improvement Department is engaged in work in several areas: “In addition to waste removal, this includes road repairs, curbside cleaning, washing fences, grading streets in the private sector, washing bus stops and much more. At the same time, while there are 1.5 thousand jobs at the enterprise, 300 are vacant, and salaries, given our budgetary capabilities, are small. So the help is definitely useful.”
The mayor and his colleagues “removed the bags from Mendeleev Street, dividing into two teams. They threw 7 KamAZ trucks. All this garbage will go to landfills. By the way, on Friday I plan to visit a tire recycling plant, I think we’ll have time to assemble a dump truck of tires so that we won’t arrive empty-handed. I repeat once again: no one but us will make the city cleaner.”
