In the center of St. Petersburg on the evening of April 24, there was a traffic collapse. Dense traffic jams are accumulating due to non-functioning traffic lights at neighboring intersections.
As eyewitnesses tell Fontanka, at six o’clock in the evening the traffic lights at the intersections of Nevsky Prospekt with Liteiny and Vladimirsky Prospekts and the Fontanka embankment broke down. According to Yandex.Traffic, heavy traffic jams have accumulated on Nevsky in both directions, on Liteiny and Vladimirsky towards Nevsky and on the embankment on both sides.
The press service of the St. Petersburg State Institution “DODD” reported that applications to these addresses were recently received and a team went to the site.
At the same time, the evening rush hour begins in St. Petersburg, citizens go home from work, and traffic jams begin to grow. According to Yandex.Traffic, the city now has 6 points. This is normal traffic for the environment. However, on some highways traffic is heavier than usual. For example, the Moscow highway towards the center is loaded by as much as 10 points.
UPD: By 18:17, the traffic lights at both intersections were returned to service, the State Institution “DODD” reported. It turned out that there was no power.
