The Nizhny Novgorod manufacturer of building materials increased production by 11% thanks to the national project “Labor Productivity”

LLC “PO Metallist” summed up the results of implementing lean technologies.

Experts from the Regional Competence Center (RCC), together with employees of the Metallist Production Association LLC from Nizhny Novgorod, summed up the results of implementing the tools of the Labor Productivity national project at the enterprise.

The company produces a wide range of products for roofing, facade and other types of construction work.

As a pilot flow, RCC specialists chose to optimize the production process of metal tiles and additional elements.

“Lean manufacturing tools used in the national project “Labor Productivity” allow companies to increase production capacity without expanding the number of employees and large financial investments. The company had a request to reduce production costs and increase the competitiveness of this product. Using the sample flow, RCC experts proposed a number of solutions to optimize production, the implementation of which made it possible to increase output by 11 percent and speed up work by 15 percent,” said Maxim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The head of the regional competence center, Roman Renzina, said that together with the project working group, 21 “bottlenecks” were identified in production.

“We proposed, for example, to increase through the redevelopment of the workshop the capacity of workplaces for manual bending of additional elements. In addition, we managed to reduce the packaging time of finished products by 23 percent – from 121 to 92 seconds by purchasing an information kiosk and new scanners,” said Roman Renzin.

In addition, experts conducted lean technology training for 19 employees of the enterprise and trained two internal trainers who will be able to independently train their colleagues in the future.
