Police officers visited the Saratov State Law Academy; the purpose of the visit was to familiarize students with the work of the voluntary people’s squad. Inspector of the public order department of the city administration, junior police lieutenant Anastasia Ukhlina, told the children that the main activity of the DND is to assist internal affairs bodies in maintaining public order, preventing delinquency and crimes, explaining norms of behavior and legal knowledge in public places.

The head of the city people’s squad, a member of the Public Council at the Regional Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Saratov, Alexey Gavrilov, also spoke with the students. In his speech, he focused on the rules for admission to the DND and the requirements for candidates. In particular, he drew attention to the fact that those who have a criminal record and those who are under criminal prosecution will not be accepted into the vigilantes. Students were offered to join the ranks of the people’s vigilantes by distributing propaganda material and posting advertisements at the university.

At the end of the meeting, the guests of the event talked about holding a preventive event “Beware of scammers!” on the territory of the regional center, urging the children to be careful when communicating with strangers, and also reminding them of the rules of conduct on the Internet. The police also called on elderly relatives to warn about the fraud, since this category of citizens is the most vulnerable.
