Exact release dates have not been announced, but the car is already in development

Automaker AvtoVAZ is considering exploring new possibilities for creating a car with a unique engine system that includes both a gasoline engine and an electric motor. The official representative of the company, Alexander Vinogradov, presented this information at the Autonet conference, as reported by the Avtopotok telegram channel.

According to Vinogradov, the company sees greater potential in hybrid technologies than in electric ones. That is why work is already underway on creating a gas-electric prototype, in which an internal combustion engine will drive the front wheels, and an electric motor will drive the rear.

At the moment, there are no hybrid or fully electric models in the Lada lineup. Preparations for the start of production of the electric version of Lada Largus have just begun. However, Japanese automakers such as Toyota and Nissan are actively using an electric motor on the rear axle.

As for the all-wheel drive system, the Lada SUVs of the Niva family have a purely mechanical one, and the SUV on the Vesta platform, which is already at the testing stage, will be front-wheel drive.
