Based on the results of the first quarter of 2024, there were fewer counterfeit banknotes in the Tambov region. According to the regional branch of the Bank of Russia, since the beginning of the year, 11 counterfeit banknotes have been discovered in the regional banking system. Thus, the number of detected fakes decreased by 35% compared to the same period last year.
In the first three months of 2024, 5 5,000-ruble counterfeit bills, 5,000-ruble bills and one 2,000-ruble banknote were withdrawn from circulation.
“The Bank of Russia is conducting free distance learning courses for cash register workers of retail chains. Over the course of a month, they study materials about the signs of the authenticity of banknotes, their security elements and verification methods. Based on the results of successful final testing, participants receive a certificate and a special distinctive sign (sticker). At the same time, cashiers will have round-the-clock access to training materials and will be able to integrate the learning process into their work schedule,” — said Svetlana Popova, head of the cash circulation and cash operations department of the Tambov branch of the Bank of Russia.
Experts remind Tambov residents of three ways to find security features on a banknote:
- see the watermarks up to the light,
- see the holographic effect and moving elements when turning and tilting the banknote,
- feel the relief along the edges of the banknote and on the large image of the denomination.
