The most pressing topic in the Samara region during April 2024 was flooding.

Governor of the Samara Region Dmitry Azarov spoke live on the “Main Topic” program of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company “Samara” about the current situation with the flood. Currently, more than 122 private residential buildings and 530 household plots are flooded in the region. Now there is an increase in water on the Samara River. 21 people, including 9 children, were evacuated from the flood zone. One of the reasons is the release of water at the Sorochinskoye reservoir in the Orenburg region.

“This flood is largely man-made. There is a violation of water discharge regimes, which has affected the situation in the Samara region. We cope with the tasks and actively help our neighbors from the Orenburg region. We are sending humanitarian aid, our emergency teams are working there. Just yesterday, 100 children from the Orenburg region arrived in our region“, Dmitry Azarov noted.

The head of the region keeps the situation under constant control. Dmitry Azarov himself traveled to several districts to check the situation, and most importantly, to find out what kind of help people need. Let us remember that literally in the first days of the flood, he decided to provide compensation to the flood victims. We are talking about financial assistance of 10,000 rubles for each family member. And partial compensation for loss of property – 100,000 rubles per residential premises. More than 5,400 people have already received financial assistance, and almost 5,700 more have applied. Compensation was provided to 201 people. According to the governor, municipalities are now getting involved. They also provide payments to flood victims.

“It is necessary to provide all possible assistance to receive insurance payments, to promptly work with documents and applications. Particular attention should be paid to pensioners and families of the Northern Military District,” the head of the region noted on the air of the program “main topic”

The situation on the Volga is currently stable. The water level off the coast of Samara is at 31.8 mBS (meters of the Baltic height system). However, a possible increase in the level to 32.15 – 32.4 mBS is predicted. What was the preparation for? The necessary work was done on engineering infrastructure, housing and road facilities. Areas at risk of flooding have been identified, mainly in the Kuibyshevsky, Krasnoglinsky and Kirovsky districts.
