The Syktyvkar city court arrested four people in absentia, including chess player Garry Kasparov and politician Gennady Gudkov included in the list of terrorists and extremists. The press service of the court reported this on Wednesday, April 24.
Those arrested in absentia are accused of creating a terrorist society, leading it, financing terrorist activities and publicly justifying them. A criminal case was initiated against them based on materials from the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the Komi Republic.
“By court decisions, the accused was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 2 months,” the court said in a statement.
