Birch trees have begun to bloom in Moscow. This was reported by the press service of the capital’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
“Birch trees in the capital have entered an active flowering phase, characterized by high concentrations of pollen in the air. This tree is considered the main culprit of seasonal allergies. The average duration of birch dusting is 20 days. The intensity of its dusting strongly depends on meteorological conditions – intense wind and precipitation reduce the amount of allergens in the air,” the report says.
Representatives of the department clarified that the total share of birch in Moscow’s green fund does not exceed 10%. The largest number of birch trees grows in Izmailovo, Sokolniki and Filevsky Park, as well as in the Kuzminki-Lublino and Tsaritsyno parks.
Another allergen, maple, is expected to bloom next.
