Parts of the embankment and park were under water

Novosibirsk was faced with the consequences of a spring flood: the water level in the Ob River rose noticeably, which led to the flooding of part of the embankment in the European Coast residential complex and a section of the Arena park, located next to the new Ice Sports Palace.

According to the Verkhne-Ob Water Basin Administration, over the past 24 hours the water level in the Ob River in the Novosibirsk region has increased by 4 cm. The reason for the rise in water was an increase in discharges from the Novosibirsk reservoir, associated with a large influx of water from small rivers of the Altai Territory.

On the embankment of the “European Coast” the fence was completely under water, only its upper part was visible. The lower level of the embankment is closed to the public. Some ships moored at Mikhailovskaya Embankment also partially went under water.

Let us remind you that Emergencies Ministry specialists noted at a meeting on April 17 that the first wave of the flood did not cause concern. However, during the second wave, a significant influx of water into the Novosibirsk reservoir was expected. In case of unfavorable developments, the volume of water discharges was planned to be increased.
