The Russian Ministry of Health has approved a new standard for the treatment of ARVI in adult patients. According to new recommendations, doctors should no longer prescribe broad-spectrum antibiotics when treating ARVI. The Medvestnik portal reports this.

The treatment period for ARVI has been halved – from 15 to seven days.

According to the old standard, even for viral diseases, doctors were prescribed antibiotics such as amoxicillin, azithromycin, cephalosporin and others. ARVI should now be treated with antiviral drugs, immunostimulants, antitussives and an antiseptic for sore throats.

The list of antiviral drugs has been supplemented with four more.

In addition, the list of laboratory research methods was reduced from 30 to 11: FGS, FBS, and comprehensive ultrasound of the abdominal organs were excluded from the list, but pulse oximetry was added.

Also, the standard of care for ARVI included an appointment with an obstetrician-gynecologist, hematologist, pulmonologist and therapist.

Order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation dated March 18, 2024 No. 127n “On approval of the standard of medical care for adults with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) (diagnosis and treatment)” was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on April 23.

It was previously reported that the Open Day will be held at the Immunoprophylaxis Center of the Pskov Regional Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital on April 26.

The event will take place as part of World Immunization Week. The chief freelance specialist in allergology and immunology of the Health Committee, Anastasia Kirilchik, will tell you why the immunoprophylaxis center was opened, what its advantages are and how many vaccines are available.
