Zelensky said he received “accurate information” from intelligence about Russia’s plan to disrupt the peace summit in Switzerland

Vladimir Zelensky said that he has “accurate information” from Ukrainian intelligence about Russia’s plans to disrupt the “peace summit” planned to be held in Switzerland in mid-June.

“We have accurate information from intelligence – specific data – that Russia not only wants to disrupt the peace summit, but also has a specific plan on how to do this: how to reduce the participation of countries, how to act so that peace does not come even longer,” Vladimir said Zelensky at a meeting with representatives of international organizations working in Ukraine.

He added that all countries are equally interested in forcing Russia to peace and respect international law. “The global majority is capable of providing this. The global peace summit in Switzerland gives us a real chance for a just world,” Zelensky said.

An international conference dedicated to ending the war in Ukraine, or “peace summit,” will be held on June 15–16 in Switzerland. Vladimir Zelensky and Swiss President Viola Amherd agreed to hold it back in January.

Russia was not invited to the summit, although Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said that sooner or later Moscow would need to be involved in the negotiations. In early April, the Swiss government announced that it would send invitations to the summit to more than 100 countries, including Russia. The Russian Embassy in Switzerland responded that the Russian side “even if it receives an invitation to such an event, will not accept it.” Vladimir Putin called the conference without Russia a “panopticon.”

Swiss President Viola Amherd sent a letter to Vladimir Putin shortly after the presidential elections in Russia. A spokesman for the Swiss Defense Ministry called it “a call for dialogue in difficult times” and said it was not intended to congratulate him on his re-election.
