Tourists do not want the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed highway to pass through other cities

The creators of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway are considering whether the railway should go to Tver and Veliky Novgorod. The initial option is to create new stations 15–20 km from these cities. This is what is currently being designed.

But there is a possibility that the highway will still be laid through populated areas. Possible route organization schemes were discussed at the strategic session. There is also an intermediate option – the main railway will run as planned, but there will be exits from it to Tver and Veliky Novgorod, which will allow the use of high-speed infrastructure for shorter express trains.

How I didn’t eat the dog: what they treat tourists to in the DPRK

Gastronomic photo report

After our correspondent’s trip to Pyongyang, the editors received requests to talk more about food in North Korea. Is it true that they eat dogs there, what they treat tourists to, whether Koreans themselves go to restaurants and what you can bring as an edible souvenir – this is discussed in the photo report.

The construction of ramps, and especially the laying of the main route through the cities, was not initially planned in the budget. Accordingly, steps to the side will require additional funding, estimated in billions. On the other side of the scale is the total passenger flow, which, due to the lack of convenient options for residents of Tver and Veliky Novgorod, will lose millions of people a year.

The topic is actively discussed by subscribers of the telegram channel “Roof of TurDom”. Judging by a survey on this resource, the majority of tourists are against the highway passing through other cities. In their opinion, to ensure transport accessibility there are Sapsan and Lastochka trains, and the high-speed railway should provide the fastest possible travel between the two capitals: “There is an express train, and there are those trains that stop at all stops. There is no need to try to please both yours and ours. I think that the residents of Tver are not deprived of transport. But personally, I’m not at all interested in stopping there on the way to St. Petersburg,” tourists write.

About a quarter of respondents are not against the initiative to make additional stops. Well, about 15% is unprincipled for tourists. The main thing is that the creators keep their promises and launch HSR before 2030.

Earlier, TourDom.ru wrote that Russian Railways presented tourists with a train for the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed line.
