Artificial reforestation work is being carried out in the Tambov region. According to the region’s forestry department, young trees have been planted on 460 hectares. The work is being carried out within the framework of the national project “Ecology”.

In total, this spring the region plans to restore forests in this way on an area of ​​about 760 hectares.

“Forestry workers are also carrying out work to replant seedlings in place of dead plants. This addition of forest crops has already been carried out on an area of ​​226 hectares of forest,” reports press service of the regional government . – The main forest-forming crops in the Tambov region are pine and oak. Seedlings of these particular species are planted in forest areas. High-quality standard planting material of coniferous and deciduous trees is grown in nurseries in the region.”
Every year, 10 million pieces of high-quality planting material are grown in the forestry sector of the region, with a need of 7.5 million. Seedlings are also sold to neighboring regions, the department noted.
