On April 24, speaking with a report on the activities for the past year, Governor Alexey Russkikh spoke about the results of work in the water supply sector and outlined the priority directions for the development of this block.

“One of the main conditions for quality of life is clean water. As part of the federal project of the same name, by the end of this year, 97.5% of Ulyanovsk residents will be provided with high-quality drinking water from centralized water supply sources. An important point is not related to the financing of work, but to changing the management system. We are transferring the management of municipal water supply and sanitation facilities to the regional level. This will allow for more efficient management due to the ability to concentrate resources and increase management efficiency. Already in 15 municipalities, “Ulyanovsk Regional Vodokanal” provides the population with drinking water,” noted Alexey Russkikh.

In 2023, work to improve the quality of water supply was carried out in the Ulyanovsk region in several directions at once. The priority of these is the implementation of the federal project “Clean Water” of the national project “Housing and Urban Environment”.

As the Minister of Housing and Communal Services and Construction of the Ulyanovsk Region Ruslan Khairudinov said, two large projects are being implemented in the region under the national project – reconstruction of the water supply system of the village. Novaya Maina with the installation of a modern water treatment station and renewal of water supply systems in three settlements in the Cherdaklinsky district. The facilities are scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2024.

Work is also being carried out under the regional Clean Water program. According to it, in 2023, more than 22 km of emergency sections of water supply networks were replaced, six storage tanks and six water intake wells were repaired. After complete reconstruction, 12 km of water supply networks were put into operation in the village. Bolshaya Kandarat, Karsun district. Work continued on the reconstruction of water supply systems in the villages of Novaya Malykla and Vyshki in the Ulyanovsk region. In addition, under the project to support local initiatives, last year 36 measures were carried out to repair water supply facilities, including the replacement of 24.7 km of emergency sections of water supply networks, the replacement and repair of 11 storage tanks, and the repair of four water intakes. Under the regional program for modernizing the public utility infrastructure system, the construction of 7.1 km of water supply networks in Novoulyanovsk was also completed. Based on the results of all work performed in 2023, the quality of water supply was improved for 43 thousand residents of the Ulyanovsk region.

A large amount of work is being carried out by the state enterprise Ulyanovsk Regional Vodokanal. “With the support of Governor Alexey Russkikh, the enterprise is annually allocated financial resources from the regional budget to repair water supply networks, maintain water supply systems in standard condition to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the population. Thus, in 2021, the enterprise replaced more than 41 km of water supply networks, in 2022 – 9 km, in 2023 – 3.8 km. This year it is planned to replace 8.5 km of networks. In addition, the enterprise, on behalf of the Governor, is studying the issue of accepting new municipalities for services, which allows for systematic work to modernize water supply facilities,” noted Alexey Shmyrev, director of the Ulyanovsk Regional Vodokanal.
