Putin demanded to explain the receipt of payments due to the flood by a tenth of the applicants

Moscow. April 24. INTERFAX.RU – Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to reconvene a large meeting to discuss a range of issues related to the prevention and protection of settlements from floods.

On Wednesday, the President held a corresponding meeting via video conference, which was attended by relevant leaders of the Russian government, heads of regions, as well as municipalities affected by the flood. He emphasized that “there are systemic, organizational and management problems here.”

Separately, Putin focused on compensation to citizens. “It will be necessary to evaluate in detail and adjust, if necessary, the amount of compensation payments to citizens affected by the emergency situation. I mean one-time financial assistance, and payments in connection with partial or complete loss of property, and others. The approaches here must be uniform and fair , regardless of the budgetary provision of the regions,” Putin said.

The President drew attention to the fact that in the regions the number of compensations issued differs significantly from the number of applications from victims for financial assistance.

“In the Orenburg region, more than 400 thousand applications from affected citizens for financial assistance were accepted, and 46 thousand were issued. This is just over 10%. And in all other regions the same is true in percentage terms. Why is there so little?” – Putin said.

The governor of the Orenburg region explained that the situation is due to the fact that all residents of cities where an emergency has been declared can submit applications for assistance. However, compensation is sent only to those people who live in flooded areas.

“Then it’s not clear why you are accepting these statements,” the president said.

“Deal with this properly,” Putin emphasized.

He noted that people need to understand what they are entitled to.
