The patriotic festival “Peaks of Military Glory” was held at Kemerovo State University

The event was attended by more than 300 people, including teachers, schoolchildren and students who are interested in history. The festival was organized by the regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society, the Kuzbass Parliament and Kemerovo State University with the support of the Kuzbass Ministry of Education and the Kuzbass Public Chamber.

The participants were greeted by the Deputy Chairman of the Kuzbass Parliament, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Military Organization in Kuzbass for organizational issues Daria Yakovlevna Repina. The parliamentarian emphasized that the region pays great attention to the preservation of historical memory. Along with common approaches to patriotic education, unique methods are also used. One of the successful practices is the “Peaks of Military Glory” project. Thanks to him, the nameless mountains of the Karakan Range and Kuznetsk Alatau receive the names of Kuzbass residents – Heroes of the Soviet Union and Heroes of Russia. As the head of the executive committee of the regional branch of the Russian Military Society and Member of the Kuzbass Parliament Kirill Dmitrievich Pravdin recalled, last week one of the peaks received the name of the Hero of Kuzbass Nikolai Ivanovich Masalov. Minister of Education Sofya Yurievna Balakireva noted that the project involves not only the naming of mountains – about three thousand Kuzbass schoolchildren climb the named peaks every year.

Daria Yakovlevna Repina also spoke about the digital project “Heroes of the Great Victory” to create an interactive information and reference system. It is designed to combine scattered data about Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Russia and full holders of the Order of Glory. For their contribution to preserving memory and instilling respect for the military exploits of their fellow countrymen, Daria Repina presented awards from the Kuzbass Parliament to project participants – scientists, teachers and students.

Chairman of the Public Chamber of Kuzbass Vladislav Alekseevich Ovchinnikov shared information about the project “Eternal Memory of Heroes! Kuzbass residents are Heroes of the Soviet Union!” and prospects for its development. Chairman of the Council of the regional branch of the “Movement of the First” Evgenia Aleksandrovna Kozlenko spoke about the patriotic projects of the Movement, including “Keepers of History”. Vitaly Valeryevich Dorofeev, deputy chairman of the Kuzbass Union of Veterans of the Northern Military District, member of the Writers’ Union of Russia, addressed the audience. The hero emphasized that today Russian fighters are defending the moral sovereignty of our society, which is being encroached upon by unfriendly states.
