In Arkhangelsk, near school No. 55 they plan to place a bust of the hero of Russia Andrei Anoshchenkov

In the Arkhangelsk City Duma, public hearings were held on the project to install a bust of the Hero of Russia Andrei Anoshchenkov. They were attended by deputies, school management, veterans, social activists and youth.

Andrei Anoshchenkov, having graduated from the Ufa Aviation School, was sent to military service in the North Caucasus. There he repeatedly took part in combat operations.

In August 1999, an Mi-8 helicopter with senior pilot Anoshchenkov was shot down during a combat mission in the Republic of Dagestan. Despite the hit, the pilots were able to land the burning car and evacuate the passengers.

Andrei Anoshchenkov was able to carry out the wounded, but he himself received 70% of his body burns. Doctors were unable to save him.

In the same year, the pilot received the title of Hero of Russia.

In Arkhangelsk, a passage in the Maimaksan district and his native school No. 55 are named after him.

The plan of the school management is to install a bust with the image of the Hero of Russia in the courtyard of the educational institution. To do this, they took part in the “Remember Their Names” competition.

— Arkhangelsk residents of different generations showed heroism in protecting other people. Streets are deservedly named in their honor and memorial signs are erected. What is most pleasing is that caring northerners are submitting similar initiatives to grant competitions. And this is an excellent opportunity to attract funding to perpetuate the memory of our heroic fellow countrymen,” stressed the Chairman of the Arkhangelsk City Duma, Ivan Vorontsov.

In addition to installing the bust, it is planned to improve the surrounding area. This will become the main venue for celebrations and special events.

“No one should forget the names of our heroes.” Especially when the hero is a school graduate – this is pride for the educational institution, the city and the entire region. For our part, we will provide all possible support so that this idea finds its embodiment, — said Deputy of the Arkhangelsk Regional Assembly Mikhail Avaliani.
