A fist in the face, a knee in the stomach: an Ulyanovsk resident who beat a police officer was convicted

The Sengileevsky District Court sentenced the rowdy to a fine of 30 thousand rubles under Part 1 of Art. 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of violence against a representative of the authorities). On appeal, the decision was “shaken” – the man will spend a year and a half in forced labor.

At the beginning of December, the violent Maxim A. attacked a police officer who came to respond to a call. The girl tried to calm the rowdy, but received a precise blow to the face with a fist, and then a finishing blow with a knee to the stomach. The man was detained, he fully admitted his guilt. The court sentenced him to a fine and awarded the victim compensation of 15 thousand rubles.

The battered woman’s lawyer challenged the decision. In his appeal he indicated that the sentence was too lenient and the compensation unreasonably underestimated – the defendant himself stated during the trial that he was ready to pay 50 thousand rubles.

The panel of judges agreed with the defense’s arguments: the fine was replaced by one and a half years of forced labor with a deduction of 10% in state income, and the compensation was increased to fifty thousand.
