More than 35 thousand St. George ribbons will be distributed free of charge in Tyumen

More than 35 thousand St. George ribbons will be distributed free of charge in Tyumen. They will be available at citywide events until May 9.

Volunteers in Tyumen began distributing free St. George ribbons on the eve of Victory Day. The action started on April 24 on Dzerzhinsky Street. Passers-by were treated to live music at the monument building “House of V.P. Burkova”, which now houses the center for aesthetic education of children, its students spoke together with the director Elena Funikova.

– Driven by the warm wind, the petals circle above the ground. Over the battlefields, over the fields of great battles. We will never forget the heroes who left with the war. The memory of the heart keeps that victorious spring approaching, – the guys opened the event with poems by the Soviet poet Vadim Shefner.

Together with the Tyumen residents, they sang songs of the war years with guitars. Those wishing to share stories about their front-line relatives were invited to the microphone.

– On this sunny day in Tyumen, together with all of Russia, the federal action “St. George’s Ribbon” started. It will last from April 24 to May 9. Residents will be able to receive ribbons at various citywide events, attach them closer to their hearts and honor the memory of their ancestors. After all, the St. George ribbon is the personification of fire and flame, victory in the Great Patriotic War, – said the head of the youth policy department of the department of sports and youth policy of the city administration, Kane Alikin.

In total, the organizers plan to distribute more than 35 thousand ribbons to Tyumen residents. The public organizations “Young Guard”, “Volunteers of Victory” and many others joined the action.

Residents of Tyumen will be able to receive ribbons at the following addresses:

• April 27 at 13:00 on Europe Square (Uralskaya Street, 131);
• May 1 from 10:00 to 12:00 in Nikolai Masharov Square (86 Respubliki Street). There will be a solemn event dedicated to Tyumen – the city of labor valor;
• May 3 from 13:30 to 16:00 at the Tyumen Philharmonic and within its walls, where a festive concert is planned with the participation of top officials of the region;
• May 4 from 10:00 to 12:30 on the square near the Tyumen Technopark (142 Respubliki Street);
• On May 4 from 15:00 to 17:00 in Komsomolsky Park, where the motorcycle rally “We Cannot Forget These Roads” will take place.

In addition, on May 8 and 9, St. George ribbons will be distributed at the track and field relay race and the open city cycling race-criterium in memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union Marita Melnikaite.

Let us recall that earlier the organizers of the “Immortal Regiment” action announced the cancellation of the classic procession as part of the column on May 9. Instead, alternative options for participation have been developed.
