The exhibition about the charitable and educational activities of Zinaida and Konstantin Sokolov places special emphasis on the spouses’ contribution to the development of Russian artistic embroidery traditions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Russian traditional ornament underlying the embroidery is a real chronicle of time. In it, Slavic traditions are intertwined with the culture of ancient eras.

The enterprise created in the Voronezh province by the Sokolovs created exquisite products with extraordinary patterns, which became famous far beyond the borders of the region. They were exhibited at international exhibitions and sold all over the world.

Z.S. Sokolova and the workers of her workshop did not just read the chronicle of time, studying and reproducing traditional ornaments. They continued to lead it, forming new samples of Russian traditional artistic embroidery and distributing products throughout the world.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see the best examples of embroidery, as well as sketches that served as a guide and teaching aids for the workshop workers. The exhibition features memorial items of the Sokolovs, rare photographs and documents.

More than 100 items from the collection of the Voronezh Regional Museum of Local Lore were used to create the exhibition.

The exhibition will continue to operate at the Tambov Regional Museum of Local Lore until June 2.
