Russia has submitted an application to host the World Archery Championship under the auspices of the International Council of Military Sports (CISM), TASS reports, citing a statement by the head of CSKA, Colonel Artem Gromov.

During a meeting with representatives of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, the head of CSKA said that the fourth CISM archery championship among military personnel will take place in August-September next year.

“The Ministry of Defense has submitted an application to conduct it. A decision will be made in May. The event will be held either in Moscow or Iran.”– he said.

Artem Gromov expressed hope that the event would be held in Russia, and invited veterans of the Northern Military District to join the armed forces team.

CISM is one of the largest organizations in the world of international sports, uniting 140 countries. She did not support the policy of sanctions against Russian athletes, remaining true to her motto “Friendship through sports.”
