A 34-year-old man convicted of murder attacked two people with an ax near one of the houses on Novo-Kievskaya Street in Tomsk. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The police found out that the victim met the suspect on the street and invited him to sit on a bench in the courtyard of his house.
“At some point during the conversation, a conflict occurred between the men, as a result of which the attacker took an ax lying on the ground, and then struck several blows to the head of the opponent and his sister, who ran out screaming,” the report says.
An ambulance took the victims to the hospital. Doctors diagnosed the man with a traumatic brain injury, and the woman suffered “less severe head injuries.”
A local resident reported the attack to the police, but by the time the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrived at the scene, the attacker had already managed to escape.
The suspect was detained 90 kilometers from Tomsk. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder). The suspect is in custody.
