On April 24, the work of the Kuitun forest fire station of type III was checked by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Irkutsk Region Vladimir Chitorkinreports the press service of the head of the region.

– The fire season is quite active. Therefore, on behalf of Governor Igor Ivanovich Kobzev, with colleagues from the Ministry of Forests and the Irkutsk aviation and ground forest protection base, we go and work in the territories, keeping the situation under personal control. We discuss problematic issues, look at how the operational response is organized, what is the state of equipment and the readiness of personnel to carry out tasks,” noted Vladimir Chitorkin.

The most fires in the Angara region in 2024 were registered in the Kuytunsky and Tulunsky districts – eight fires in each territory. At the same time, the largest area covered by fire is in the Kuytunsky district – 86 hectares, of which five hectares are non-forested areas.

– The staff of the forest fire station, consisting of 41 forest protection specialists, was fully staffed in advance, the personnel were trained and insured, the equipment was repaired and ready for work. Thanks to this, the efficiency of extinguishing has increased several times; all fires were extinguished within the first 24 hours after detection,” added the Deputy Prime Minister.

In all eight cases, the cause of forest fires was the transition of fire into the forest fund from agricultural lands.

To quickly respond and prevent new forest fires, patrols are carried out. Today, 95 groups, consisting of 287 specialists from forest fire formations, forestry departments, various services and departments, are scheduled to work on patrol and duty.
