Transport police detained a young man at the Tomsk-1 station, who was found in possession of more than 40 packages of synthetic drugs. Several more bookmarks were found on the railway. A criminal case has been opened regarding the sale of drugs.

The Tomsk Line Department (LO) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that patrol officers noticed a man near the Tomsk-1 railway station who behaved suspiciously and “became noticeably nervous” at the sight of the police.

“Transport police detained a 32-year-old resident of the city of Seversk and during a personal search they found and seized 41 packages of white substances from him. The examination showed that they contained drugs of synthetic origin – carfentanil and methadone,” the transport police said.

Investigators established that the Severnaya resident purchased a batch of drugs on the Internet, packaged them and sold them in Tomsk through bookmarks.

While inspecting the area adjacent to the railway, transport police discovered four more bombs.

Investigators opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 30, paragraph “d” of Part 4 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal sale of narcotic drugs on a large scale).

The department notes that the sanction of this article provides for a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
