The mayor’s office of Nizhny Novgorod explained the reason for the smell of feces, which residents constantly complain about. Representatives of the city administration wrote about this on social networks, answering questions from citizens.
Let us remind you that complaints about the stench were repeatedly received from Verkhniye Pechera, Novaya Kuznechikha, the Tsvety microdistrict and other places.
Authorities explained that the cause may be the discharge of waste into storm drains by sewer trucks. In addition, this may also be the fault of residents of cottage villages who illegally dump waste into a ravine or illegally connect to storm sewers.
The residents themselves believe that the stench could have appeared due to a malfunction of the wastewater treatment plants in Kstovo.
Rospotrebnadzor has repeatedly carried out unscheduled inspections of the aeration station, but no emergencies or violations of sanitary legislation were identified, the city administration noted.
Residents were advised to contact law enforcement to initiate an investigation.
