In Severomorsk, based on information about the unauthorized shutdown of elevator equipment in residential buildings, a criminal case has been opened, reports the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Murmansk Region.

– The department for the closed administrative town of the Murmansk region of the regional Investigative Committee of Russia, based on information posted on a social network about the unauthorized shutdown of elevator equipment in apartment buildings in Severomorsk, opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 330 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (arbitrariness that caused significant harm), – the department notes.

The investigation believes that from April 21 to 22, an unidentified employee of a commercial organization responsible for the operation of elevators arbitrarily suspended the operation of the equipment, depriving residents of apartment buildings, including the elderly and disabled, of the opportunity to use the elevator and limiting the movement of citizens with health conditions.

Inspections and seizures of financial and economic documentation are being carried out in connection with the case.

On behalf of the Murmansk Region Prosecutor Sergei Pavolin, an investigation was organized into the facts of the shutdown of elevator equipment in houses in Severomorsk.

“The progress of ongoing verification activities and the investigation of the criminal case are under the personal control of the regional prosecutor,” the supervisory agency reported.

Let us remind you that the governor of the Murmansk region instructed the leadership of Severomorsk, regional departments and law enforcement agencies to deal with the outages of elevators in a number of houses of the closed administrative city. Residents of Severomorsk began to complain about mass shutdowns and interruptions in the operation of elevators on social networks on the eve of the visit of the head of the region. The city administration told them that the Interlift organization, responsible for maintaining the equipment, had stopped the elevators. Another contractor will begin work in the near future.
