Five teenagers who helped remote scammers steal money from pensioners were detained by Bryansk police. This was reported by the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In a short period of time, eight victims of remote scams, aged from 75 to 91, contacted the Bryansk region police. The attackers informed the pensioners about their relatives who allegedly committed the accident and demanded money to release them from liability. The victims lost over 1.4 million rubles.
Law enforcement officers identified and detained five couriers. All of them turned out to be minors.
Thus, a 17-year-old resident of Novozybkov took 400 thousand rubles from four pensioners in one day. And a 16-year-old girl from the Dyatkovo district came to two women in Bryansk for 495 thousand rubles. A girl the same age from the Kursk region stole 250 thousand rubles from a Bryansk pensioner. And a 17-year-old guy from Smolensk with a 15-year-old girlfriend took 320 thousand rubles from a pensioner from the Krasnogorsk region.
Teenagers found offers to work as courier scammers on the Internet. They keep a small amount for themselves.
Criminal cases have been initiated. The defendants are awaiting trial under their own recognizance.
