A resident of Tomsk decided to kill his mother in order to inherit property; he gave this “job” to a friend. To save the woman, police officers staged her murder, the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
According to the department, in 2023, a 46-year-old man was taken into custody in a pre-trial detention center on charges of burglary. While awaiting the court’s verdict, he decided to “get rid of his mother in order to inherit her property, including real estate.”
The man turned to his acquaintance with a request to commit a crime, gave him his mother’s data and promised him part of the future property as a reward. The Tomsk resident met his “partner” at the IK-4 hospital, the regional Investigative Committee clarifies.
“The police became aware of the man’s criminal plans. Having staged the murder of his mother, the detectives, through third parties, provided him with information about the work allegedly performed,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
At the beginning of April 2024, the court sentenced the man to a suspended sentence for theft. Immediately after his release, law enforcement officers detained a Tomsk resident “for organizing an attempted murder.”
Investigators from the Tomsk Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the man under Part 3 of Article 33, Part 1 of Article 30 – paragraph “h” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of preparation for a murder committed for hire).
The man was again taken into custody during the investigation.
