An exhibition about Siberian writers during the war years will be held in the center of Irkutsk

On April 25, 2024, the exhibition opens at the Documentation Center for Contemporary History – a branch of the State Archive of the Irkutsk Region (Marata St., 19).


For the title of the exhibition, it was no coincidence that Irkutsk archivists took the famous lines of Vladimir Mayakovsky “I want a pen to be compared to a bayonet…”, which became a guide to action for many poets and writers of our country.

At the exhibition you will see unique documents about the life and work of Joseph Utkin, Jack Althausen, Ivan Molchanov-Sibirsky, Moisei Rybakov and many other authors: photographs, personal files, poems, as well as documents reflecting the active work of the Irkutsk branch of the Union of Soviet Writers in the years Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition runs from April 25 to September 13, 2024.
